Rannsóknir á framhaldsskólastarfi - starf fyrir doktorsnema

Doktorsnemi óskast við Menntavísindasvið Háskóla Íslands, við rannsóknarverkefni um „Starfshætti í framhaldsskólum á Íslandi“.  

Starfið er laust frá byrjun árs 2014 og er til þriggja ára.  Það er hluti af norrænum styrk frá NordForsk fyrir „Nordic Centre of Excellence:  Justice through education in the Nordic Countries“ (JustEd).

Auglýst er eftir doktorsnema til að taka þátt í rannsóknarverkefni um starfshætti í framhaldskólum á Íslandi, Markmið rannsóknarinnar er að varpa ljósi á starfshætti í framhaldsskólum og þau öfl sem móta þá – með áherslu á skipulag skóla og skólastarfs, viðhorf nemenda, kennara og stjórnenda til skólastarfsins, námsumhverfi, nám og kennslu og skuldbindingu nemenda.  

Gögnum er safnað í níu framhaldsskólum auk þess sem gögn úr eldri rannsókn á skilvirkni framhaldsskóla eru hluti rannsóknarverkefnisins. Doktorsneminn mun taka þátt í því að safna gögnum fyrir rannsóknarverkefnið í heild og mun, í samráði við leiðbeinendur, móta doktorsverkefni, bæði út frá markmiðum starfsháttarannsókninnar og markmiðum norræna öndvegissetursins (www.helsinki.fi/justed). Leiðbeinendur verða úr hópi íslensku þátttakendanna í JustEd-verkefninu.

Umsækjandi skal hafa lokið eða vera að ljúka meistaraprófi í ársbyrjun 2014. Hann þarf að geta unnið sjálfstætt og tekið virkan þátt í að móta framvindu verkefnisins í samvinnu við leiðbeinenda. Viðkomandi þarf einnig að hafa góða hæfni í mannlegum samskiptum og eiga gott með að vinna í teymi og vera vel skrifandi bæði á íslensku og ensku.
Umsóknin skal fela í sér greinargóða útskýringu á af hverju viðkomandi hefur áhuga á að vinna þetta verkefni og hvað hann eða hún telur sig hafa fram að færa við mótun og vinnslu verkefnisins. Umsóknin skal ekki vera lengri en 3 blaðsíður. Umsókn skal fylgja: i) ferilskrá, ii) prófskírteini, iii) afrit af meistaraprófsritgerð eða annarri viðamikilli rannsóknarritgerð, iv) nöfn þriggja meðmælenda og upplýsingar um hvernig má hafa samband við þá.

Umsóknir skulu merktar „Starfshættir í framhaldsskólum á Íslandi “ Í framhaldi af ákvörðun um ráðningu þarf að sækja formlega um doktorsnám í Háskóla Íslands. 

Laun eru samkvæmt kjarasamningi fjármálaráðherra og hlutaðeigandi stéttarfélags. Öllum umsóknum verður svarað og umsækjendum tilkynnt um ráðstöfun starfsins þegar ákvörðun hefur verið tekin.

Doctoral position: The School of Education at the University of Iceland advertises an open position for a doctoral candidate in a research project on upper secondary school practices in Iceland.

The School of Education at the University of Iceland seeks a candidate for a doctoral position for the period of January 2014 – January 2017 to be included in the NordForsk funded Nordic Centre of Excellence ‘Justice through education in the Nordic Countries' (JustEd). The candidate must hold a Master's/second-cycle degree.

The doctoral candidate will participate in a research project on upper secondary school practices in Iceland, with a particular focus on teaching and learning as well as student engagement and initiative. The aim of the study is to provide understanding of teaching and learning practices in upper secondary schools in Iceland and the moulding forces of their evolution, including external structures, views of students, teachers and leaders, physical learning environment, teaching and learning practices and student engagement. The doctoral candidate will participate in collecting data for the research project. In cooperation with his or her advisors, the candidate will shape and carry out a doctoral research project using the data from the aforementioned study (including classroom observations, interviews, and survey data) and relate this doctoral research project to the objectives of the Nordic Center of Excellence JustEd (www.helsinki.fi/justed). The candidate's advisors will be members of the upper secondary school practices research team. 

The duties of a doctoral student are to work on his or her doctoral thesis. Research plans should relate to the objectives of JustEd and emphasize cooperation, cross-cultural and cross-border connections between the school practices in Iceland and other Nordic countries. To successfully attend to the duties of the positions, the appointee should be able to speak and write fluently in both English and Icelandic.

Salary for the position of the doctoral student will be according to the current collective wage and salary agreement between the Union of University Teachers, and the Minister of Finance.
