Doktorsnemi óskast viđ Menntavísindasviđ Háskóla Íslands, viđ rannsóknarverkefni um Starfshćtti í framhaldsskólum á Íslandi.
Starfiđ er laust frá byrjun árs 2014 og er til ţriggja ára. Ţađ er hluti af norrćnum styrk frá NordForsk fyrir Nordic Centre of Excellence: Justice through education in the Nordic Countries (JustEd).
Auglýst er eftir doktorsnema til ađ taka ţátt í rannsóknarverkefni um starfshćtti í framhaldskólum á Íslandi, Markmiđ rannsóknarinnar er ađ varpa ljósi á starfshćtti í framhaldsskólum og ţau öfl sem móta ţá međ áherslu á skipulag skóla og skólastarfs, viđhorf nemenda, kennara og stjórnenda til skólastarfsins, námsumhverfi, nám og kennslu og skuldbindingu nemenda.
Gögnum er safnađ í níu framhaldsskólum auk ţess sem gögn úr eldri rannsókn á skilvirkni framhaldsskóla eru hluti rannsóknarverkefnisins. Doktorsneminn mun taka ţátt í ţví ađ safna gögnum fyrir rannsóknarverkefniđ í heild og mun, í samráđi viđ leiđbeinendur, móta doktorsverkefni, bćđi út frá markmiđum starfsháttarannsókninnar og markmiđum norrćna öndvegissetursins (www.helsinki.fi/justed). Leiđbeinendur verđa úr hópi íslensku ţátttakendanna í JustEd-verkefninu.
Umsćkjandi skal hafa lokiđ eđa vera ađ ljúka meistaraprófi í ársbyrjun 2014. Hann ţarf ađ geta unniđ sjálfstćtt og tekiđ virkan ţátt í ađ móta framvindu verkefnisins í samvinnu viđ leiđbeinenda. Viđkomandi ţarf einnig ađ hafa góđa hćfni í mannlegum samskiptum og eiga gott međ ađ vinna í teymi og vera vel skrifandi bćđi á íslensku og ensku.
Umsóknin skal fela í sér greinargóđa útskýringu á af hverju viđkomandi hefur áhuga á ađ vinna ţetta verkefni og hvađ hann eđa hún telur sig hafa fram ađ fćra viđ mótun og vinnslu verkefnisins. Umsóknin skal ekki vera lengri en 3 blađsíđur. Umsókn skal fylgja: i) ferilskrá, ii) prófskírteini, iii) afrit af meistaraprófsritgerđ eđa annarri viđamikilli rannsóknarritgerđ, iv) nöfn ţriggja međmćlenda og upplýsingar um hvernig má hafa samband viđ ţá.

Doctoral position: The School of Education at the University of Iceland advertises an open position for a doctoral candidate in a research project on upper secondary school practices in Iceland.
The School of Education at the University of Iceland seeks a candidate for a doctoral position for the period of January 2014 January 2017 to be included in the NordForsk funded Nordic Centre of Excellence Justice through education in the Nordic Countries' (JustEd). The candidate must hold a Master's/second-cycle degree.
The doctoral candidate will participate in a research project on upper secondary school practices in Iceland, with a particular focus on teaching and learning as well as student engagement and initiative. The aim of the study is to provide understanding of teaching and learning practices in upper secondary schools in Iceland and the moulding forces of their evolution, including external structures, views of students, teachers and leaders, physical learning environment, teaching and learning practices and student engagement. The doctoral candidate will participate in collecting data for the research project. In cooperation with his or her advisors, the candidate will shape and carry out a doctoral research project using the data from the aforementioned study (including classroom observations, interviews, and survey data) and relate this doctoral research project to the objectives of the Nordic Center of Excellence JustEd (www.helsinki.fi/justed). The candidate's advisors will be members of the upper secondary school practices research team.
The duties of a doctoral student are to work on his or her doctoral thesis. Research plans should relate to the objectives of JustEd and emphasize cooperation, cross-cultural and cross-border connections between the school practices in Iceland and other Nordic countries. To successfully attend to the duties of the positions, the appointee should be able to speak and write fluently in both English and Icelandic.

Only applications received by this deadline are considered given that they meet the requirements. The selected candidate will need to send a formal application for a Ph.D. studentship at the University of Iceland in due time.

The application should include a detailed description of the reasons for the applicant's interest in participating in the project and the specific means by which he or she can contribute to the project. The application should not exceed three pages. The following should be appended to the application: i) Curriculum Vitae, ii) degree certificates, iii) a copy of Master dissertation or another extensive research essay, iv) names of three referees and their contact addresses.
Salary for the position of the doctoral student will be according to the current collective wage and salary agreement between the Union of University Teachers, and the Minister of Finance.
